Returning client Shadow of Whales first obtained Muddy Paw PR in the summer of 2014 for a personalized PR push around their single, “Forever”, their self-titled album, and their IndieGoGo campaign. The goal of this campaign was to expand their digital presence, while securing album reviews, interviews, spotlight features, and visibility and awareness around their IndieGoGo.
To ensure maximum coverage, we utilized Shadow of Whales’ notoriety in the Austin music scene, having made their debut appearance at the Austin Convention Center and appeared on TV via KTBC – FOX 7. Furthermore, we took an incredibly hands-on approach by personally reaching out to and securing features on a variety of online outlets that included local Austin sites such as the Austin Chronicle, as well as nationally recognized outlets such as PureVolume, GrooveShark, AbsolutePunk, Under the Gun Review, and many more.
During their time under Muddy Paw PR, and in the months that followed Shadow of Whales saw an explosion of success. In addition to the above mentioned media coverage, Shadow of Whales went on to:
-Have their debut EP charted on CMJs Top 200
-See their tracks in regular rotation at Starbucks Coffee across the United States and Canada as well as Hollister stores
-Perform the San Antonio, TX Vans Warped Tour date
-Perform at So What?! Festival (Formerly South By So What?!)
-Perform alongside Forever Came Calling on the Texas leg of the Rather Be Dead Than Cool Tour
-Share the stage with Courage My Love, Mayday Parade, Circa Survive, Jonny Craig
“Thanks to an exclusive stream via our friends at AbsolutePunk, we have officially found our favorite new release of the day. Shadow of Whales, an Austin, Texas based indie-rock group, have dropped one of the sassiest and catchiest records in recent memory.” –Under the Gun Review
“If this doesn’t get your foot tapping, your head bopping or your hips moving then I don’t know what will.” –Nothing Original
“Shadow of Whales have been the first band to surprise me in a really long time. None of their songs sound the same, yet they are all built upon the same elements. Well worded in their press release their music is something you can dance to, and then mosh to. For being a debut release, I couldn’t be more excited to see where this takes them.” –Mistree Mag
