“There is a big beautiful world of love out there that has nothing to do with sex or lust! It includes loving yourself, making space and time for yourself. It includes loving your friends, listening to them and doing the same for them as you do for yourself. And it includes your family, and your pets. And even strangers on the street! But none of these things are valued as much as the other type of love. So my advice is value those things. Start with valuing self love and go from there. See what happens.”

“For this single, I worked with a producer named Born Soul. This was the first single that we worked on together. When I got to his studio we got right down to business. It was very organic. He picked out the sample that you hear at the beginning and put it to a swing beat. I was immediately inspired and came up with the first verse right away. We parted ways, then I went home and had the song completed within a week or so. We felt it needed something special, so I asked Jason Cherry, a bassist in Austin, to add that dope bassline. Then it was just a matter of the saxophone solo!”

“I want people to learn to dig for their personal truths. We are all so different, and the more connected we get through the internet and social media, the more this tension between acceptance and personal truth is exposed. So I hope that I can craft my own truth. It’s not pretty. It’s a grueling process. But I think people will recognize that they don’t need to be someone they’re not to be accepted. We are all human, even the dirty bits of us, and sharing that helps people see themselves in you.”
