Muddy Paw was retained in November 2015 to promote Vox Vocis’ debut album release, along with a slew of southwest tour dates. The album was produced and recorded by Stephen Adwell of AMR Studios, and mastered by Mike Watts (Theory of a Deadman, The Dear Hunter, Story of the Year). To date, they’ve shared the state with a number of heavy hitters including The Ongoing Concept, Hail the Sun, Stolas, Icarus the Owl, and Eidola.
As an emerging band, it was critical that we approach this release with a creative edge. Our mission was to secure national coverage as well as local Houston press to elevate the band’s local buzz. As they embarked on their 3-week tour we approached local outlets en route to secure show date postings, and in-person appearances.
We saw overwhelmingly positive support for this album across North America, securing a level of coverage and praise not often found with an emerging artist’s debut. We strategized timely press releases to national media that included Pitchfork, MTV, and Stereogum, while integrating personalized hand-crafted releases to a variety of blogs. This combined approach meant secured premieres, coverage, and interest from outlets such as Exclaim! New Noise Magazine, AbsolutePunk, and Indie Minded. In addition, the band was featured on several podcasts including Behind the Barricade and Outliers on Air, and solidified rotation on University of Houston’s Coog Radio.
